Case Study: NerdWallet

In 2019, I worked on the NerdWallet Mobile App. Here’s the impact we had with a few simple set of UX changes:

  • Implemented contextual smart banners to drive users from Web —> Mobile, with the goal of converting visitors to retained users. By doing so, we improved the banner engagement rate by ~11%.

  • Next, we customized the onboarding flow in the mobile app to retain the context from the smart banner. Everything from the Splash Screen -> Registration -> Homepage, to create a seamless journey.

  • Post Onboarding, we dropped users into the appropriate activation flow based on the webpage they came from to improve activation rate. For ex, if a user came in from a credit score banner then they would get the credit score activation funnel experience.
